Iron rails to holy brown Satellites return to ground Metal birds return to rust Shed their feathers over us Metal drifting on the waves Water takes the life she gave Put your finger on the seed Buried fears begin to breathe

Seems just a while ago You used to call me your friend But now, we move so slow Through days towards the end Six long years or more You gave to me, back then Our kids have left their homes It's no use to pretend Into russet clouds My ships are drifting off In muted, joyful shouts They call me to the shore

Oh the snow it melts the soonest when the winds begin to sing And the corn it ripens fastest when the frosts are setting in And when a young man tells me that my face he'll soon forget Before we part, I'd bet a croon, he'd be fain to follow it yet Oh the snow it melts the soonest when the winds begin to sing And the bee that flew in summertime in winter cannot sting And all the flowers in all the land so brightly there they be And the snow it melts the soonest when my true love's there for me Oh the snow it melts the soonest when the winds begin to sing And the swallow skims without a thought as long as it is Spring But when Spring blows and Winter goes my lad and you'd be fain With all your pride for to follow me, across the raging main So never say me farewell here, no farewell I'll receive You can meet me at the stile, you'll kiss and take your leave And I'll wait it till the woodcock crows and the martin takes its wing Since the snow it melts the soonest, when the winds begin to sing

about

Originally I thought of this as a four-song, mostly electronic Winter ep, reworking two tracks from No True Body. I decided to give myself "free reigns," and to go wherever I was going to go with the sound (I generally have a tendency to restrict myself, when recording) and the underlying story I had thought of quickly developed and expanded the release by four more songs. I think this is by far my most cohesive work to date. It is something much like an extended murder ballad, and, if you have the time, it is probably most interesting, when listened to in sequence. And loud. I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but I think the thing is so drifty and abstract in its nature, that it needs a bit of "projection."

Thank you for listening!

about

Moongazing Hare Copenhagen, Denmark

I try to keep myself warm, calm, loved and out of harm's way. The music is desperately home made and mostly well-intentioned.
